In the third installment of the Significance series, we begin with Maggie and Caleb in the clutches of a new enemy; the Virtuoso council. Not only do they have to deal with the consequences of taking the lives of the Watsons and the council attempting to take Maggie away to keep their precious Visionary safe, but they must deal with Marla as well. All are determined to undermine, control and use Caleb and Maggie's rare gifts for their own uses, some wish to destroy them entirely. Then Maggie's father and Bish are threatened but the council forbids the presense of humans. Peter and the family fight and stand beside them every step of the way to save Maggie's father, to keep Caleb and Maggie together when the corrupted council is so set on keeping them apart and to stop Marla and whatever she has up her sleeve. Then Maggie has the shock of her life when she discovers something about her real father. It may change everything for everyone. Stay tuned as the story continues.
Let me start with that even though I gave this book a low rating (3.5 stars), I love this book
and the other 2 books by Shelly Crane.
The story is unique and the plot she created was a masterpiece.
Beautiful and Whimsical
The story Shelly Crane fabricated is one many romance enthusiast will love.
The characters are strong and you seem to fall for them easily.
The concept for the story is one I haven't exactly read like before.
Shelly Crane definitely created a world to get lost in.
Full of love, power and hope.
However, I was hoping for an improvement when I went into reading the third book of the Significance trilogy.
That didn't happen.
The first 2 books, in my opinion, are more prominent in my mind.
But, my hopes were dashed when I read Defiance.
The transitions in the book were not, uh, great. The flow within the first 2 was better than in the 3rd book.
I got lost several times, I had no idea where the story was.
Or, well, what the characters where doing and when scenes changed.
I felt very lost in some parts.
(lost and lonely!! XD)
If the flow was better and the transitions from one scene to the other were improved, I would of
loved this books so much more.
But I just cannot give it any higher rating than 3.5 stars.
And the romance was sweet, that's the reason I started reading the Significance books.
But I got to a point in Defiance where it was just too much. Well, too sappy and drawn out in ways.
I love Shelly Crane's whole, soul-mate, we are destined for each other, idea.
Just even with soul-mates, they'll have problems and, hell, be like any other couple.
Not so much with Maggie and Caleb.
Their love is sweet and heartwarming,
just too much of the sugary coating for me.
However, I will continue the story.
I have to!
With only one more book left in the trilogy, I'm kind of in it for the long haul.
Even with the few issues I had with the book, its a nice, quick read.
Especially for those who want a nice, make your heart beat faster, long for that kind of love, book.
