YA/ Romance/ Supernatural
4 Stars out of 5
Clara has it all. A wrestling star boyfriend, popular friends, all the right school activities...pretty much a perfect life...up until her parents died. Now she lives with the Pastor and his family and though they take good care of her, she feels alone. Then her boyfriend, Tate, starts to show signs of trouble when a new guy, Eli, comes to town. Clara is fascinated with him but hides it until something happens. Eli confesses to her that she gives him something he's never had before...something he needs. Everything is about to change for this normal pretty popular girl in a supernatural way.
Okay, how do I start this review.
Oh, I know :)
This book was
That sums it up.
I have read Shelly Crane's books before.
(The Significance Series. Which I enjoy reading so much.)
And boy she knows how to make a story
To make you swoon, fall in love with the characters, the story and
fall head-over-heels for the guys.
And I'm not complaining at all.
This story starts off with of course the MC, Clara.
And right away I could tell I was going to like this character.
Crane made her so real, she is like every other teenager.
Facing problems of where she actually belongs in life, and in school.
Though some things the character does, I wanted to shake her for....
But, all in all, what she did and how she responded to certain situations, most people would do in actuality.
Then comes Eli,
oh oh Eli
He's that bad boy with a heart of gold.
Fighting his 'nature' to be something more.
Tortured bad boy ;)
That's how you make a fantabulous swoon-worthy male!
Then there are those sweet moments of his.
Eli protects, he protects what he holds dear.
That's what made him such a strong character.
The story takes you on a ride with Clara, dealing with normal everyday situations, then to dealing with just not normal, but paranormal settings also.
And Clara seemed to handle it all quite well, I applaud her for that!
I loved the idea of what Eli, and his family are.
That was a very unique idea and I loved reading about it.
I can't wait to learn more about it either.
This book Devoured me, consumed me, held me captive.
And I didn't complain once.
Devoured also was a fast-paced read, however, it didn't feel too rushed to me.
I was able to 'devour' it in one sitting.
And I started the second book as soon as I finished the first one :)
It's a series you want to start.
It'll pull you in
and never let you go.
Those are the books I love to read :)
So, if you want a heartwarming book that'll make you swoon.
That's also a nice fast-paced read.
Pick this book up!
“You have to make your own happy. You can’t depend on other people for that.”
“You chose me, I chose you. End of story.”
“You saved me from my life.”
