Review: Insurgent ( Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth

Title: Insurgent
Series: Divergent, #2
Author: Veronica Roth
Category: Dystopia /Romance
Genre: Young Adult
Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

My Review:

I don't have words to describe how much I loved this book.
It was an amazing second installment of the Divergent books.
I enjoyed it!!
So, so much.

There was so much about this book to love. A strong female lead, great supporting characters, no love-triangle, the guy is major swoon worthy (also a great bonus). It doesn't just focus on the romance, it focuses on the novel, on the story line, the plot and the factions.  We get to see so much more of the world Roth created. The book holds your attention, it has a realistic feel to it and then the ending, AMAZING!!!!
Roth has out done herself with Insurgent. I don't know how she's going to make the next book any better. :)

Another great thing about this book is you also feel the emotions of the characters, you experience everything they experience. It was an amazing ride! It had my toes curling, my heart racing, my stomach in butterflies, my pulse pounding, and my head swimming.
 Don't forget the swooning, either!!!

What I really liked about Insurgent is that the human flaws are pointed out, but that is what makes the characters so strong. That is where they draw their strength.  Tris is not perfect, she doesn't act like it, she knows her flaws, she knows her strength. She never claims to be more than she is. She embraces her flaws. I admire her so much for that.

I keep saying this but. there was so much I loved about this book!!!
One thing though, Tobias and Tris's love gets tested. (which was bound to happen)
At times I just couldn't take the tension that would build up between them, I mean god, I could feel it leaking off the page!
I didn't like that, I love both those characters so much!

June Temple as Tris
I know most might not see her as Tris,
but to me she is how I pictured Tris.
She looks like she has Tris' strength and heart.
Tris is such an fierce  character! I love her for that. I was cheering her on from the first page! Like I mentioned before, she takes her flaws and makes them her strength. She followed her heart, did what she believed was right. No matter what. That's the kind of female characters I like, that I love to read about!

And Tris never, NEVER gives up, that girl fights!
You go Tris, you go girl!!!

Then Tobias, oh dear lord :)
Yeah I totally picture Max Iron's as Tobias/Four.
Max Iron as Four/Tobias

Just look at him!!!!
*Fans myself*
He is a great character. He is so strong and he fights through his fears. And like Tris, I feel he embraces his flaws. He makes them who he is and uses them to grow, to become stronger and to overcome obstacles that stand in his way. Espicially some obstacles that appear in Insurgent.
Then, when it came to Tris, he never stopped fighting.
(that's when the swooning would take place, sigh)

But let's not forget the other characters, they all had such unique personalities and I loved them all. Roth created amazing people in Insurgent.

Roth also gives us a deeper understand of the factions and what they are or represent. Which can be a bit overwhelming at times, but it got easier to understand :)  I really enjoyed the world created by Roth and the idea, the world or more the people who are considered Divergent. Wow. It had such dept to the plot. It is simple amazing!!
Roth was also able to keep an amazing balance between the action and the romance. Even though the romance was a big factor, it's not the main focus. The story is.
The action held me, but the love Tobias and Tris have, it kept me engaged.

Then the ending!!! Yeah, that was my reaction..

I just, Gah!!!
I want the next book! I have to have it!!
I NEED IT!!!
I keep thinking about this book, the characters, everything, even though It's been a few days since I put it down.
That's how good it is...

I simple loved this book.
Loved Divergent, loved Insergent (love saying those names for some reason)
Cannot wait for the third book!!!

So if you love dystopian books with a world that is very developed and believable, but with a great romance back bone, read the Divergent books.
You won't regret it. :)

Sorry, couldn't help myself so here's another picture
*drools*
With black on I can just see him as Four!!
He looks yummy

Wait a minute?? For real?? I don't know about this!!
So check it out!!
