Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she’s opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn’t possible, Janelle knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.
But her reincarnation, and Ben’s possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI-agent father’s files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what’s right in front of her: Everything that’s happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben’s sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she’s going to need to uncover Ben’s secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.
From debut author Elizabeth Norris comes this shattering novel of one girl’s fight to save herself, her world, and the one boy she never saw coming.
First things first.
This book was pretty decent.
I enjoyed reading it.
However, it felt, how do I put it. Rushed.
Don't get me wrong, it flowed nicely.
But at points, I didn't feel like how the story flowed, it didn't move like it did at the beginning of the book.
About half-way through this book takes a turns.
Which is both good and bad.
I loved the plot, it was a great concept.
And I loved the two main characters Janelle and Ben.
They definitely have chemistry and they make the book.
I also loved, I MEAN loved the twist in the book.
Something I didn't even have a clue would happen, and I really enjoyed that.
What really got me, THE ENDING!!!
It was good, I didn't like some of the events that happened, or led up to the ending.
Some of it felt forced and didn't go with the story.
Or so it felt that way to me.
However, oh it was a good ending, just not how I wanted it to go!!
And just with that ending, if there is a second book, which by looking at Norris' blog, there might be a second book.
If so, I'll have to read it...
This is a book that the ending catches you and no matter if you liked it or hated it, you gotten keep reading to see what happens.
It gets under your skin.
Makes you want to finish this tale from front to back.
Now, the characters.
Janelle, I feel sorry for this character and love her even more.
She has bad luck, simple as that.
But she is strong, a fighter and I bet she has a hero outfit tucked away in her closet somewhere...
It seemed she took everything one step at a time, when she needed to take action,
oh beautiful Ben.
The mysterious guy.
That one that draws you in and makes you want to learn all his secrets.
Yup, that's Ben.
I just wish we could of gotten to see more of his character, to see more character development with him.
One thing for sure, I didn't know where this story was heading.
The author definitely kept me on my toes, however, after about the middle of the book, I felt like the book loses focus.
The character development slows down, the twists, good, just became too much in a way.
She's very talented and I did really enjoy this story, the characters and the concept of this book.
However, it could of been so much more.
It was a strong book, which gradually declined towards the end.
It was a fun and enjoyable read.
It will appeal to a lot of people.
And I'm sure many will love it.
I liked it.
A good YA.
So, if you need a nice, entertaining read.
Give Unraveling a chance :)
The plot will capture you.
The characters you will fall for.
The book will definitely get you thinking,
What is really out there??
