Review: Angelfire and Wings of the Wicked: by Courtney Allison Moulton

The Angelfire Series:
by Courtney Allison Moutlon

First there are nightmares.
Every night Ellie is haunted by terrifying dreams of monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her.

Then come the memories.
When Ellie meets Will, she feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. On her seventeenth birthday, on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie's power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Only Will holds the key to Ellie's memories, whole lifetimes of them, and when she looks at him, she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.

Now she must hunt.
Ellie has power that no one can match, and her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. But in order to survive the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives and truths that may be too frightening to remember.

Life as the Preliator is harder than Ellie ever imagined.
Balancing real life with the responsibility of being Heaven’s warrior is a challenge for Ellie. Her relationship with Will has become all business, though they both long for each other. And now that the secret of who she really is has come out, so have Hell’s strongest reapers. Grown bold and more vicious, the demonic threaten her in the light of day and stalk her in the night.

She’s been warned.
Cadan, a demonic reaper, comes to her with information about Bastian’s new plan to destroy Ellie’s soul and use an ancient relic to wake all the souls of the damned and unleash them upon humanity. As she fights to stay ahead of Bastian’s schemes , the revelations about those closest to her awaken a dark power within Ellie that threatens to destroy everything—including herself.

She’ll be betrayed.
Treachery comes even from those whom she loves, and Ellie is broken by the deaths of those who stood beside her in this Heavenly war. Still, she must find a way to save the world, herself, and her love for Will. If she fails, there will be hell to pay

My Review:

Okay, so this is my first time reviewing two books in a series, in just one review. So, just bare with me on this :)

First off, I enjoyed Angelfire and Wings of the Wicked, so so much. I was hesitant to pick up this series. I wasn't sure what to expect or if I would even enjoy it.
but I took the chance, and thanks to some other bloggers who encouraged me, saying it was amazing.
I gave the Angelfire books a try.
Thank god I did, or I wouldn't of experienced the greatness that is Courtney Allison Moulton!

In Angelfire you enter a world really unique in certain ways, and a story line that will pull you in.
I got lost in the world Moulton created, and the story line that is very  interesting.  We meet the main character, Ellie, a girl you will grow to admire and enjoy reading about.
Ellie is your normal teenage girl, except that she has horrible, vivid nightmares.
As she goes about with school, friends, and boys, things begin to happen.
She finds out, after meeting this very handsome and intriguing guy, that she's, well, something a little different.
Then Ellie's world isn't what she thought it was all along.
She isn't human, in a sense, she is something the dark fears.
And that handsome and intriguing guy, Will, is her protector.
As she comes to realize who and what she is, with Will by her side, the readers are integrated into this world that Moulton introduces us to. A world full of demons, angels and things that go bump in the night. It's all up to Ellie and the dashing Will to save the souls of humans from the evil that wants to destroy them.
And Ellie thought being a high-schooler couldn't get any harder.
With Ellie coming to terms with who she is, balancing a normal human life with her supernatural existence, and her budding romance with Will, let's just say Ellie has her hands full.
The characters all appear strong and each are beautifully created.
The pace started out fast, but it never felt rushed to me.
I loved how the story  develops, and getting to see how Ellie also develops with the story.

Then after Ellie comes to terms with who/what she is, things just get crazy for her and Will. In Wings of the Wicked, Ellie is tested and challenged in every way possible. New characters emerge along with new enemies
that what to destroy Ellie and Will for good.
Trying  desperately to cling to a normal life, she so wants and needs. Ellie soon realizes it might not be possible. With the tension growing, and disasters hitting so close to Ellie, she has to step up her game.
With new twist and turns in the plot, with Ellie learning more then she ever really wanted to know, her life changes.
All she really wants is to just be with Will, and be normal.
Then when things couldn't get worse, oh they do, and Ellie will stop at nothing to save the ones she loves.
She then sets forth to save the person who is everything to her and she will not stop or back down.
Poor Ellie
And by the last chapter, I was crying.
Like a little two year old.
The books ends, and I couldn't believe it!
I kept trying to flip the pages in my nook, going, "WHAT!!??, no it can't end there!!"
Sadly, it did...
But all in all, It was a great second book in the series.

Moutlon makes a delicious story to sink your teeth into, a plot, not very original, but very unique in it's own way. Characters that felt real, even though they aren't all human to begin with.
The pace was nice, and the story line was smooth, I felt so immersed into it.
This is a paranormal book, that is so different and not following the latest paranormal books out there.
It was a very nice series to get lost in.

I fall in love with Will, Moutlon, well, thank you :)
I am truly happy I set down and read this series, I devoured it in no time.
I couldn't put it down!
I was so hoping when I finished the second book, that maybe by chance the third one was out, but..
No, such luck :(
So, I am, not going to lie, non-patiently waiting for the third book!

Overall, this was a series I really really enjoyed reading and getting lost in.

  1. That ending was just cruel and unusual punishment in my opinion. I think it killed me a little bit. The only ending I have read that was worse was Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, that ending killed me - really- I died for a little while- kinda just sat there not comprehending anything. Anyway back to your review- agree, agree, agree! I adore this series (and Will)

    Great review!

    2. Haha we would have the same feelings towards Pandemonium! When Requiem comes out I will probably dance and twirl and then read until I finish it! I need to know, Team Alex or Julian?
