tickticktickticktickit's almosttime for war.
Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.
Unravel Me is an amazing read. That’s basically it, it is amazing. From my very own lips, that is all I can utter about this book. AMAZING! That’s right, this is a series I would love for every YA fan to at least give a try at. And so far, mostly everyone that has read the books, love ‘em! So take my advice, give this series a chance!
What I enjoy so much about this series, other than the characters, the plot, the story line is Tahereh’s writing style. It is absolutely beautiful. It flows amazing, a web of words so beautiful strung together you can see, smell, and feel that world she created so startlingly. Tahereh really does have a talent for words.
It's like a drop of honey, a field of tulips blooming in the springtime. It's a fresh rain, a whispered promise, a cloudless sky, the perfect punctuation mark at the end of a sentence. And it's the only thing in the world keeping me afloat."
Now, it’s been awhile since I have been in the world of Juliette, so when first entering Unravel Me, I had forgotten some names, details, things like that. However, it really didn’t take me long to be pulled back into the world Tahereh created. I was able to get in the swing of the book with no problem.
With no spoilers I’m going to just give you guys enough so you will want to READ THESE BOOKS! Oh yes! Anyways, the book does pick up right where the first one left off. Juliette is at Omega Point, and things just aren't that easy, Juliette still has her ‘killer’ touch, and it is still a constant battle for her. With the way Tahereh writes, you really are able to feel and understand Juliette, feel what she is going through. It’s a real battle with herself. Throughout the book, she’s trying to come to terms with herself, to figure out who she is. And you do see a lot of growth in her, especially towards the end of the book. She’s a different character, very much so, in my mind, but nonetheless, I do enjoy her, enjoy reading from her perspective quite a bit.
Now! The love triangle of doom!!!! Yeah, I said, er, typed that!! Poor Juliette, I do not want to be in her shoes for that! Yes, if you have read the first book, maybe even this one, you know there is a love triangle. Team Adam and Team Warner! Teams! Which one are you on? Well, to be honest, I do like both characters *gasp* Yeah I admitted it, but which one do I like more? Now, no bricks or stones can be thrown, but I’m leaning a little more towards Warner. Sorry, girls, I like those broken boys!
Now, as I stated, I like both boys, Adam is a great character, you can tell he does like Juliette, care for her a lot. But, I feel there is a wall between them. In the book you can really see it. Plus, Adam is struggle with his own demons, which made him come off a bit….uh, hard? I don’t know how to explain how he felt to me during the book, but he wasn't what Juliette really needs. Especially with everything she is also going through. I mean, the girl can’t touch anyone! ANYONE! I can’t even imagine what that would be like, but I do know I would hate it! And it felt like Adam wasn't there, his problems seemed more important.
Then you have Warner, bad, complex boy that he is. Yeah, he makes quite a few appearances in Unravel Me. And some really throw you for a loop. In Shatter Me, you know he is a complex character; you get to see only a few sides of him, maybe even think that is all that is of him. However, he is way, way more complex than that! In parts of the book, you get a glimpse of whom he is or who he could be. Then with his interactions with Juliette you see there is no wall between them, they are honest, open and vulnerable to each other. It feels Warner accepts her, does not fear her, and in a way, that is good for Juliette, something she needs.
Now, I have to talk about Kenji!! He is the character I just love! A character that I just want to carry around with me all day when I am feeling blue, he has the charisma that makes me giggle every time he makes an appearance. So, yeah, I’m on Team Kenji as well! What can I say, I have a big heart!
“Have you ever had a girlfriend, Kenji?" "What?" He looks mortally offended. "Do I LOOK like the kind of guy who's never had a girlfriend? Have you even MET me?”
With surprising twists, a wonderful cast of characters and a world so its own, Unravel Me was a great read. I was left flipping each page, ready to devour more and more. Tahereh’s writing is beautiful, with a pace and flow that I love getting wrapped up in. Even with only a minimal bit of action, the pacing was still enjoyable. Being inside Juliette’s head is quite an experience.
I loved Unravel Me, and just like Shatter Me, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!
