Review: Great and the Goblin (Mylena Chronicles, #1) by King by Chloe Jacobs

Title: Greta and the Goblin King
 Series: Mylena Chronicles #1
Author: Chloe Jacobs
Category: Fantasy/Romance
Genre: Young Adult
Rating: 4 stars out of 5
While trying to save her brother from a witch’s fire four years ago, Greta was thrown in herself, falling through a portal to Mylena, a dangerous world where humans are the enemy and every ogre, ghoul, and goblin has a dark side that comes out with the eclipse.

To survive, Greta has hidden her humanity and taken the job of bounty hunter—and she’s good at what she does. So good, she’s caught the attention of Mylena’s young goblin king, the darkly enticing Isaac, who invades her dreams and undermines her will to escape.

But Greta’s not the only one looking to get out of Mylena. An ancient evil knows she’s the key to opening the portal, and with the next eclipse mere days away, every bloodthirsty creature in the realm is after her—including Isaac. If Greta fails, she and the lost boys of Mylena will die. If she succeeds, no world will be safe from what follows her back...

My Review:

I’m so glad that I finally picked up Greta and the Goblin Kind! It was much better than I expected it to be and it took me into a world so different than any other fantasy book I have read lately. Chloe Jacobs created a unique world filled with sexy goblins, creepy gnomes and all kinds of things that go bump in the night.
“No matter who you are or where you come from, we're the same. We were meant to be together.”
I enjoyed Greta; she is a kick ass chick. No, I mean it. She literally kicks some major gnome ass! I think that’s why I enjoyed her so much, she doesn't take any crap. Being in a world that humans can’t really survive or wanted, made her tough. Being able to read her story was an adventure.

Then you have Isaac. Now you if think goblins can’t be sexy, oh, think again. This goblin was pretty darn sexy to me! I also can’t wait to get more Isaac in the next book. I really enjoyed his devotion to Greta. No matter how much she pushed him away, he always came back for her.

The world Chloe created was very unique. Something I can honestly say I haven’t read before. I think that is why I really enjoyed this book so much and why I just can’t wait to have my hands on the next one!

What I loved: The world that Chloe created, it was very different and Chloe’s writing style. Her action scenes actually kept me entertained, which is something that doesn't happen often.  I also really loved the interactions between Greta and Isaac; their connection was pretty intense.

What I felt needs improvement: It did move at a good past, but too fast for my liking. I like when events play out over a time; however, the events that took place in this book happened really fast. Too quickly for me.

"If there were trust between us..." He stopped and took a deep breath. "You could have me."

Greta and the Goblin King is a book you need to pick up if you are looking for something a bit different from the other fantasy books out there. I absolutely couldn't get enough of it. It had a nice story-line and some really awesome characters.
