The Edge of Never is another book I wish I picked up a lot sooner than I did. I am kind of mad at myself because I didn't give it a chance right off the bat, though I keep hearing really amazing things about it. But nonetheless, I’m so glad I finally read it.
“You were the missing piece of my soul, the breath in my lungs, and the blood in my veins.”
J.R. Redmerski created a love story, an adventure, and a world that really sucked me in. Being not only inside Cam’s head, but also Andrew’s was simply wonderful. I loved and enjoyed both characters; each one with their own set of problems, each one trying to figure out just what step they needed to make next. Cam and Andrew took their escape by a simple bus ride, which then eventually brought them together and lead them to be completely swept away by each other.
Both characters, Cam and Andrew, definitely had their own complicated problems. But when they met, I could just feel that they were supposed to meet. I loved that the author was able to really get that feeling across; I also think it helped me fall even more in love with them. Redmerski really created a wonderful love story.
What I loved: Andrew!! I loved his character; from his first appearance I could tell he would also steal my heart. And that he did; which I have absolutely no complaints about. I loved that the book switches POV’s between Cam and Andrew. Some authors can do that and make you love being inside each character’s mind and allow you to understand them amazingly. Redmerski is that kind of author, though she was able to keep a bit of mystery with Andrew. Oh, and let’s not forget Andrew’s ’69 Camaro. Oh, God, that car!! (I love me some classics)
What I felt needed improvement: I felt the book was an all-around great read, I just felt that Cam and Andrew’s relationship, at first, built nicely, then it went from nice and smooth to, BAM, serious relationship. It just moved a bit too fast for my taste, but it didn't take anything away from the story, really.
“I think if past lives are real then we have been lovers in every single one of them. I've known you for a short time, but I feel like I've known you forever.”
The story built at a great pace, it was also told amazingly well, so well I wish I could just jump on a bus and go. The characters were all well rounded, even the side characters. They helped draw me into their world. The Edge of Never also really, really tests your emotions, at parts, I was seriously everywhere. I just couldn't put it down. This is another New Adult book I just love, and will keep close to my heart.
