To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

My Thoughts

I really do enjoy Abbi Glines, she's a great writer. And I have fallen in love with the way she can tell beautiful, sweet stories. So, when I finally picked up Fallen Too Far, I was excited about this one. I thought I would once again encounter a really good read by Abbi. Sadly, my expectations were not met.  I try not to have expectations when it comes to books, but sometimes I just can’t help it. Though this story wasn't that amazing to me, it was still an enjoyable read.

The idea of this story really piqued my curiosity. That is what really captured my interest to pick the book in the first place. I definitely enjoyed how Rush and Blaire end up together. However, to me, the romance could have been more. I felt that the relationship moved too fast and developed too fast. There could have been way more depth to not only their love, but each other as well.

Blaire is definitely the kind of female character I like the read about. She’s a very strong-willed individual. Even though her situation would make others sad and depressed, she stood on her two own feet and fought. She’s cocky and quite stubborn. But despite that, she was a good character. I also liked that she didn't take Rush’s bullshit. And he did dish that out. But she never faltered when it came to any hardship she faced.

Now, at first, Rush really rubbed me the wrong way. He was an ass from the get go. He is definitely a complicated character, like Blaire, he has quite a few problems.  But he did eventually warm up and I did begin to enjoy his character. He is a lot like Blaire, in that he is strong, but also stubborn. However, I couldn't fall in love with his character though but I did enjoy him.

I did like the attraction between the two. Though I couldn't really feel it fully, I could sense it somewhat. That was one of my problems with the book; I couldn't really feel their attraction. It moved too fast for my liking. To me, there could have been so much more development with not only the characters, their love, but the story-line as well. The book could have been so much better.
“He wasn't what sent me running. He was what had made me want to stay.”

The Good: Rush and Blaire’s love. To me, that was a very beautiful part of the story. This book is also a great set up for the rest of the series. The ending helped capture my attention and I know I’ll be reading the rest of the series!

The Bad: The pacing. Though I loved Rush and Blaire’s love, it developed too fast for my liking. I felt that the story could have been more; their love could have been more in-depth. I also felt there could have been more development into the characters and the story-line.
“You said everything I needed to hear. I'm hooked now. You have me. What are you going to do with me?”
Despite my few problems with this one, it was still a really good, intense emotional read. I enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this one to fans of Abbi Glines, or those you enjoy a nice, quick read filled with emotion, heartbreak, and love.

  2. It's a shame that this one didn't meet your expectations!! I like the romance to be drawn out a bit myself, I would prefer to sit here and get a little frustrated *winks* while it builds, than to get there almost immediately. The Cat and mouse game is so much fun!! Great review Chicka!!

  5. This was such a disappointment to me, esp since it was my 1st Abbi read. I also didn't care for Rush and the pacing was terrible. Idk if I'll be reading any of her other books. Sigh. Great review though!

  7. I have yet to read a Abbi Glines book, and I'm sorry to hear this one didn't meet your expectations. I love that it is a sweet, emotional love story. Blaire does sound like an likeable heroine and I can't wait to meet her. But I am now apprehensive about Rush. *sigh* Don't you hate it when you can't connect with the love interest? Sorry about the pacing too. Hopefully the next book is better for you Magen. Thanks for the honest review! :D
