“Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life. However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her. She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over. For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday. So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them. It’s never had to be. He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember. Right up until tragedy struck. Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession. But the one thing they can’t find is a future. Neither one has been totally honest. And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details. In the details and in the lies.
How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

 My Review:

This book contains every reason why I love M. Leighton’s books so, so much!  The characters, the plot, and the damn sexiness that she created for this one story, just had me all happy and all the girly-ness inside me blissful. This chick knows how to create a swoony story, one that’ll have you glued to the pages. And I was thoroughly glued to this book.
It was the characters, their passion, which made this book so much fun to read. Don’t get me wrong, the mysterious element along with the twist that Leighton threw in definitely made it gripping. But it was the passion and intensity between Hemi and Sloane that just made this book consuming.
Hemi's arms are there to catch me. He'll keep me safe. For as long as I have left, he'll keep me safe.
What I loved about Sloane was this girl’s will. She is has such a strong will, and a very stubborn personality. And it was that strength and stubbornness that really made me like this heroine. Sloane is trying her hardest to prove to her family that she needs to break free from their over protectiveness. And I love how she went about that, like; Bam, here I am! And of course it’s that determination that lead her to meet Hemi.
Hemi is, well, a very alluring guy. He had me melting! But behind that alluring sex appeal, something else definitely lurked. I loved getting inside his head and seeing how he was affected by Sloane. And of course, getting to know him, and see just who he really is was an amazing ride. I adored this character, not only for how he and Sloane were so combustible together, but for his love that he has for his family and for Sloane.
As I mention, Sloan and Hemi are a combustible duo. And I loved every second of it. With the situation they find themselves in, they are tested, hurt, and loved, but that underlining attraction between them was just so much fun to watch grow and develop.
Another part I enjoyed so much about this book was the twists and turns that the story took. In all honesty, I didn’t see some of the surprising twists that popped up. Though there was one I did figure out. But being unable to see what Hemi’s objective was, well, enthralling!
The pacing was also nicely built, and the developing attraction, though instant, felt natural and grew at a great pace with the development of the story. I enjoyed all the other characters as well, heck, I enjoyed so many things about this book. And with Leighton’s pretty amazing writing style, I was sucked in. And I loved every minute of it!
I definitely recommend this one to fans of intense passion, and romance. Yet with a very interesting plot that keeps things mysterious and leaves you wanting more.
