Author: Wendy Higgins
Category: Paranormal/ Fantasy/ Romance
Genre: Young Adult

It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

My Review:

Saying goodbye to a series is one of the most painful, yet happy things to experience; a nostalgic moment. Of course, I didn’t want this series to end but I do have to say that Wendy Higgins wrapped it up nicely with a beautiful ending!
As I drifted to sleep, from a state of semi-consciousness I heard him whisper, "You're my dream. My only dream."
This one, like the others, is definitely an emotional read. I had my ups and downs. Some good and some bad. The book also played out amazing well, and of course, I just loved Wendy’s prose – she is an amazing author. The world she has created is unique in my mind. I loved the whole neph world, the demons, and all the creatures that she developed and added to her story. It had its intense moments, its sad moments, and its beautifully sweet moments. It was a perfect balance.

I also can’t write a review without talking about the characters: Anna and Kaidan. Both have grown so much since the first book and I was so happy with the end result. Each, though not perfect, really are a lot stronger and are fighting their best to protect the ones they love and the world. Anna isn’t that shy girl from the first book anymore. She’s such a tough chick now, though I can still see that old Anna charm in her. Then there is Kaidan. Still the swoon factor! But I really did see growth in him as well. He’s stronger, more determined, and not afraid to really be with Anna anymore.

They really are a wonderful couple and this book made me squee so freaking hard for the both of them.  They have some much needed moments together that just, to me, were absolutely perfect.  It made up for the first half because it did take a while for Kaidan to make an appearance.

I also can’t forget the side characters. Wendy created a wonderful cast of side characters, each one unique. I feel in love with all of them. I could even see growth in them! Even though something happens that really broke my heart, I felt that they were one of the best cast of side characters I have ever encountered.
There is going to be a reckoning here tonight, both sweet and terrible.
The book wraps up quite nicely. No loose ends and the ending, the epilogue was just so darn wonderful! All in all, Sweet Reckoning was probably the best book in the series because of a really happy moment that takes place. I thoroughly loved how the story played out, everything that took place, and how it all wrapped up! Wendy Higgins really delivered a wonderful tale and I’m so happy I was able to be a part of it.  And though it’s sad to see it end, I know I will re-read this series!
