Knox Jagger. The name inspires resent in every male at Sinclair University, want in every female, and contempt in Charlie Chase.
Charlie can be summed up in three words: independent, independent, and independent. To Charlie, Knox epitomizes everything that’s wrong with college males: prolific one-night stands, drunken senseless fights, and a body that hints at prioritizing gym time over study time.
As an up-and-coming writer for Sinclair University’s newspaper, Charlie’s tasked with getting to the bottom of who’s been dropping little white pills into girls’ drinks at parties. In an ocean of All-American boys sporting polo shirts and innocent smiles, Knox is the obvious suspect. As evidence piles up against the bad boy of Sinclair, Charlie becomes more and more certain it isn’t Knox. But when her drink is dosed at a party and she wakes up on Knox’s couch the next morning, Charlie’s left with more questions than answers when it comes to Knox Jagger.
How can Charlie ever hope to uncover the truth behind a guy so closed off he’s become . . .
If I couldn’t love Nicole Williams anymore, I had to go and read this book. I loved Hard Knox. And I felt that Williams did an amazing job handling the elements and aspects of this story. It felt real and very much powerful.
Wherever I was, whatever I was here for, I would be okay because he was here. Knox was with me - I was safe.
What I enjoyed the most would have to be the voice of the story. Charlie was a great character to read from. She is a strong and independent individual, and that came through loud and clear. Though she is a bit cynical, I couldn’t help but fall for her. Even when her world became unsafe, Charlie never backed down. I think Williams created a great persona, a female character that just vibrates strength.
Knox Jagger is a very misunderstood guy. He vibrates enigma, strength, and of course bad ass. And I couldn’t get enough of him! Like Charlie, he is a very independent person, so that did cause quite a bit of a tension between them (a wonderful, sex filled tension that is). Though Knox comes off as a bad boy, he really was a great guy. That really did shine through. He is a man with many sides, and I loved learning about all of him.
Now, Charlie and Knox do get mixed up together when she gets drugged at a party. I loved watching them come together and slowly grow together. The tension between them builds so well throughout the story and their situations. And having Charlie determined to get to know Knox, and to prove he isn’t who everyone thinks he is really made me love her character even more. The chemistry between them, as I mentioned, is so intense and just comes through so well!
Your ego is gushing all over me and getting my favorite shoes dirty.
The buildup of the plot and the conflict kept me partially on the edge of my seat. Though I did figure out who the bad guy was, it didn’t take away from the story. The character development was done very well, and I loved learning about the characters and watching them grow. The story was also nicely paced and everything came to a perfect conclusion.
All in all, I loved the strong and independent Charlie Chase and the mysterious and sexy Knox Jagger. The story took me on a ride I enjoyed so very much. It was intense, kept me enthralled, and had me sighing quite a bit. Hard Knox is a must read, in my opinion.
