Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it-the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set—one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game—at only twenty-six years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington D.C. major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the west coast's most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.

My Review

K.A. Tucker is a wonderful writer. And once again she swept me away with her deep characters, intriguing storytelling, and powerful emotions. Becoming Rain was filled with twists, suspense, and a lovely romance.
“I don’t care about any of it. All I want to do is lean forward and kiss him. Steal him away from the bad stuff, convince him to start over because I believe he isn’t beyond saving yet.”
Clara is a confident character. One focused on her career and helping those she can.  I was impressed by Clara and her determination to do what must be done. And I also admired that about her. But, of course, the heart always wins in the end. Watching her interact with Luke was sizzling good.  Watching her struggle with what she wants to do and what she must was both touching and heartbreaking.

You can’t help but feel for Luke, really. He is swept away with the high end lifestyle his uncle brings him into. And in a way you can understand his appeal to it, but underneath it all you know what was really happening. However, Luke is a genuine character. He’s sweet, endearing, and also very kind. Watching him struggle with the obstacles he encounters just made my heart hurt for him, but in the end I do adore him so.

I also loved that we get to see some old characters from the first book and how they are involved in what is going on in Becoming Rain.  It also made me miss them.

This series just keeps getting better, so of course I just couldn’t enough of this story as well.  The suspense, the mysterious, as to what is going to happen next, who is really the one pulling all the strings, keeps you on your toes. I couldn’t really figure out who was doing it, and when it was all revealed I was pretty surprised. Tucker loves to keep her readers on their toes, and that she does with this book.

The romance was sweet and the chemistry between Luke and Clara was intense and very passionate.  And I enjoyed that Luke doesn’t care about Clara’s job, he loves her for her and she loves him for him. It was so sweet and I did love watching them overcome everything.
I am real. At least, parts of who he’s seen are. And this is real, what’s happening between us right now.
All in all, Becoming Rain was a great read. It has such a deep storyline, with many twists and plots. Suspenseful and heartwarming all in one. And I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

  2. This series is so good and I love how none of the characters are typical. I cannot wait for you to get to Chasing River. That one is my favorite of them all! Awesome review =]
